Training Programme
The purpose of the training contract is to give trainees a mix of experience and skills that will set you up in a legal career as a solicitor with Kennedys. Our ability to consistently offer the majority of trainees positions on qualification is attributable to producing newly qualified lawyers who are competent, confident and commercially driven. A balance of work experience, responsibility, supervision and formal training achieves this. We ensure that our trainee solicitors are given a sound training in the core disciplines. You are given a good level of responsibility early on, dealing with varied areas of work. We have an open-door policy and partners and supervisors are readily accessible.
You will be a valued member of the team from the start, working alongside experienced solicitors and partners in a relaxed and open plan environment.
Seats
The two years are split into four six months seats. Trainees can spend a seat in each of our divisions: company commercial, insurance/reinsurance, liability and workplace, getting the opportunity to work with clients from a variety of industries. Trainees are asked for their preferences before each seat allocation and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences. You will be required to gain practical experience in at least three distinct areas of law and will be given the opportunity to develop skills in both contentious and non-contentious work.
As well as working at Kennedys, you could also experience a secondment to a client office or a secondment to one of our international offices.
Locations
We offer training contracts in our London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Chelmsford and Cambridge offices.
